Hello,
My Marantz CD80 reads intermittently some audio CD's (not copies) when coming to the last tracks (n°8,9...) : reads, stops for a second, reads for a second, stop again, and read again, and so on, alternatively. I hear like relay click each time, and the green "play" led turns on and off in accordance. The instrument is all genuine. What's wrong ? Can anyone help me ? Thanks and very truly yours.

Hi, What pickup is used in this, is it the "swing arm" type ?
Have you tried anything yet such as cleaning the lens ? Also check that there is no dirt on the turntable the disc sits on as any "wobble" present is greatly magnified at outer edge of disc. You can also with the power off see if the arm is totally free to move across the full width of it's travel. Regards Karl |

Thanks for your answer Karl,
The CD80 is fitted with the CDM-1 swing arm model. I will take a look to key-points you have mentioned...

It's a CDM1mk2. Or better a 'metal CDM2' as it is not like an CDM1. Laser can be replaced with CDM2/4 lasers. But don't start swapping yet, could be something else. Even a bad cap
Info is present here in several posts, but try to get the servicemanual for the cd80 or maybe a philips 880 (also cdm1mk2) and go from there.

Here you go. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Marantz-Servic...3286.m14.l1318 The manuals are copies but they are very good quality! Cheers, Mags. |
