meridian 506 laser

hi fellow diyers
need to seek some info; can anyone confirm whether the 506.18 uses the philips 12.4 laser?

What I could find:

MERIDIAN 506 CS4328 - SAA7310 CDM 12.4
MERIDIAN 506.24 CS4390 CDM 12

You better take a peek under the hood...

If it is a CDM12.4/05 what is problem with it ?

I haven't got the unit yet. The seller mentioned that the unit would not play from cold but then runs fine after switched on for some time (maybe after 30 mins). Suspecting the laser is on the way out & scourcing for one. Read in some forums that the original version 506 could be using a swing arm mech.I was thinking could it be cdm 4 or cdm 9?

It'll be CDM4/19 if it's a swingarm IIRC.

imho It seems better to wait until the unit arrives.
Guessing can be fun, but it won't solve the real problem ;-)

I could get the12.4 as my tech friend has one but if it uses the cdm4 then I would reconsider as I can't get any new ones over here....unless I transplant from my rotel BX965
