@scranton - Hey Jan, I'm glad the parts arrived ok Let me know if you need any help working out what connects where etc.

@Dr.H - I'm confused now, which regulator are you referring to? Is it the Bobken reg?... I can't see how can a regulator be an alternative to a better capacitor, and why not employ both?

Thanks Dr.H, this looks actually quite interesting. Do you use a separate power supply for it?

Have you considered feeding it directly from the smoothing cap to avoid double-regulating?

Anyway, I was actually asking whether you used a separate transformer, or stepped it down from another voltage line?

Hi Folks,
I'm about to start my version 2 of this CD transport... found some separate boards for 9.98 Euro (in Donegal). Can someone answer a basic question please?

I think I identified the anti static point I need to de-solder on the drive (see attached)?
My iron has an earthed tip, are any other anti static precautions required or advised? I'll suck an earth lead while I'm soldering... (probably not really!).

Trying the original Black gate PS (with single regulator for now at least) configuration this time.... KlassicKlon?

Thanks.
Bill

Sorry for the momentary lapse of logic! I looked at one of my existing laser unit/board combos and confirmed the missing blob of solder. Good technical term 'blob'... don't you think?

Mad as ever...

I was getting the usually skipping problems, same like what others in this thread was reporting. Then I installed a hagclock and the skipping went away. I also noticed the transport sounds a lot smoother and gained a bit more bass.

Hi Bill

How are you going to do the Shigiclone with just the lens and without the rest of the board with the chips?
