Hotiron, nezbleu, You were right! I had connected pin 3 to pin 6 on the op-amp, so the output that I was seeing at pin 6 was in fact the pre-reg V of 2.522V.
I am now fixing it to ensure that 5534 has a +5 supply to p7 and 0V to pin 4. And of course readjusting the pre-reg so that the ACTUAL output of the op-amp at pin 6 is in 2.522V. So no "alien electronics" after all! |

All I can Say Is I'm glad I could clarify the situation.
Ask and I will help.

I get 00 (zeros) when powering up my unit. I know I don't have the switch in place, and pressing the other buttons don't seem to do much (I have a CD attached).
I guess I won't know until I get that switch fixed. Is it a normally open or closed switch again? |

Good, because what you were suggesting before was impossible. So did you use the 2.5V reference IC that was in the original schematic, or did you replace it with an LM317? What does this say about your listening results? You heard remarkable improvement after attaching a bog-standard LM317 regulator, which probably has no better (or even worse) bandwidth, noise, and impedance than the circuit it was meant to "improve". Kinda makes you wonder, no?
