my dad just gave me his cambridge audio dvd-300 because the laser is crapping out. I bought it for him about 6 years ago so as far as dvd players go it had a good run, in my experience 3 years is about the max before they quit.
Anyway I opened it up and was happy to find that it uses what looks to be a standard IDE type DVD drive. I am thinking I can just go down to my local computer shop and pick up a new one for $30. Does anybody have experience with this? What should I be looking for when I get one? I am thinking of using it with my quad systems (33 and 405 or my 22 and II's) as my digital source. Also does anybody know if I could modify it to play DVD Audio?
