I have done extensive mods to my squeezebox 3, but I think I may have gone overboard this time. All the power supply capacitors have been replaced with blackgates and the opamp has been removed with the dac going directly to the jacks. The sound is great and no hiss problems. I decided to go a step further and remove the 5v regulator for the vcc which is U5 regulator. I ran a wire directly from the my elpac 5v 2a power supply to where the regulator used to be. The sound is much clearer, but now I hear a loud hissing noise. It sounds like a vintage tube amp running through my speakers. Any suggestions to fix this problem? Should I run shielded wire instead? Thanks
