I’m trying to find hirez material for my Linux/X-over box (digital download or possible to rip). By Hirez I mean something higher than redbook e.g. 96k/24bit.
So far I have found: - High Definition Tape Transfers (www.highdeftapetransfers.com) - Musicgiants (www.musicgiants.com), unfortunately not selling outside the US. Any suggestions/experiences? Primary interest is classical, jazz, blues and rock. Hope this is the right forum. Regards

Downloads up to 24/96.. Mostly obscure stuff I don't care for, but that might not be the case for you.

I know it is possible to rip 24bit/96k audio tracks on DVD and because there are a few audiophile DVD around, that’s a possibility. But I didn’t know that it was possible to rip DVD-Audio – sounds interesting.

You can rip from DVD-Video using Lplex http://audioplex.sourceforge.net
You can also make your own DVD-V high resolution audio from wav or flac files. To convert flac files to wav use foobar2000. In this way any DVD player can play high resolution files up to 96K/24b. If someone know a way to rip from DVD-A pls let me know. ![]() Regards, Tibi |

This is the old fashioned way that I have used to make perfect rips of over 20 DVD-Audio discs;
http://www.i-hack.org/computer/other...vd-a-disc.html There exists a newer version with GUI and windvd is not needed but I can not find it at the moment. I'll keep looking and let you know. Edit: Found it. Here's the new fangled way, apparently this program is excellent. The first link is a discussion, and the second link is the application; http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/...howtopic=61928 http://rapidshare.com/files/14323049...2008.07.21.zip Also, I forgot to mention that it is possible to extract high resolution audio from blu ray music discs aswell. |

What is the hw requirement. Are blue-ray disc drives able to play DVD-audio?
