Does anyone know where it is possible to buy either CS8412 or preferably CS8414 S/PDIF receiver IC's. UK/Europe.
The only UK supplier I can find is Farnell for CS8416, which is overkill for my needs and I've had trouble getting them to work in the past. |

If you don't mind SMD chips try http://www.futurlec.com
they ship from thailand and are usually pretty reliable. I ordered a cs8412 from them recently, but would have picked up the 8414 instead if i'd realized it was a smd package. |

I think I've managed to find some from Italy, I was trying to avoid going outside of Europe if possible.
It's amazing how much more expensive the CS8412 is compared to the 14/16 now. |

I'm checking with a couple of possible sources for CS8414 chips. One of them is definitely a broker; I've purchased through them before, and got burnt once by counterfeits from China. They do claim to have some from a source in the US. The other place appears to have stock in the US, and pricing might be under $10 per chip. And they're close enough to me that I could conceivably drive there in a day to kick up a fuss if the deal goes bad and I didn't mind spending $250 in gas and ferry fares.
Anyway, if one of these sources works out, how interested would anyone be in getting some of these? |
