Default PCM1732 replacement

Hi, I have a Nad C542 cd player that I have been fooling around with a bit, and I think I might have smoked the DAC chip, which is a Burr brown PCM1732U. Now I understand that this chip with its HDCD capability is not available to us DIY:ers because of Microsoft!!! (unbelievable)

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone would know where I could get a hold of one anyway, or else if there is another chip available (without HDCD) that could replace the original one? Could I even upgrade!?
