The LM 833 output chips have been replaced by BB 2604 and those new 2604 run pretty hot. What I do now ?

Hi,
If you have installed with 8-pins sockets,which i used to do with my Philips cd 471 & 472, then i would like to suggest that you plug(insert) back the LM833 and see if they are hot too.
The next step, i suppose that you know what to tackle the problem...

get an other unit with LM 833 out; running warm, not very hot like
BB2604

Although a bit unlikely, are they oscillating (At R.F.). Try a 0.1mf cap directly across supply pins(4 and 8 on Op-Amp)How hot is Hot?. Is the audio distorted ? OPA2604 draws around 12ma, at +/-15volt thats 0.36watts so yes it will be quite warm.

OP-amps don´t runs hot in standard circuits. Only things that can make OP-amps hot are osclillations or pushing them in quasi A class.

OPA2604 on +/- 20V voltage are cool or just little warm.
