I´m tweaking my M-Audio Delta 1010 soundcard and wonder what output filter topology would be best soundwise. The 1010
uses AKM AK4293 DeltaSigma DACs; the outputs will run into a preamp via short (20") RCA cables.

This is the current differential output filter design:

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

As I don´t need differential outputs this seems to be suitable:

This is a passive filter I found here: http://www.dcx2496.fr/en/tweakanalog2.php

What should I do? Leave the filter as it is, use the summing or passive one?

Thanks!

I am not the technic man but Slimdevices Transporter uses a similar output as the first one. Most likely they only choosed it for offering Balanced output.
The passive one is a matter of luck i believe. I doubt the DAC itself can handle the capacitive load anywhere near a OP amp can (i may be totaly wriong here)
So the simple second filter is what i would try but could be you need some caps in the output for DC.
