I recently bought an old Philips CD471 player (7 euro, on ebay, shame on me
). It uses the 1541a Philips chip, and I must admit that it sounds really well (after I've changed the Lm833 with a pair of AD826): punchy, dynamic, very good midrange with that sort of "vintage" and happyness in the sound that make it enjoyable, nothing to compare with the plethora of 1bit sigma-delta cheap converters .I'd like to mod it, not in a strong way as it is fairly good for its use, but just to have some fun, but I can't manage to find the service manual or simply the schematics. Any1 can help? A great salute Max |

Try this mod:
http://www.dcaudio.kgb.pl/nos.htm The sound become more open and bright. I have service manual for CD473, it is almost the same. Just post your e-mail. |

Hello Angelm, thanks a lot for the suggestion. I'm little scared to manage digital electronics (I never do it), I feel better in the field where I've collected my experience: analog audio. I see that this mod is applied to the tda1541; can it be good for the 1541a also?
A big thanks for the CD473 schematics, too, I can't understand why it's so difficult to find more information in the net... my email is libermax at tiscali.it (just change " at " with "@" )A great salute Max |
