Problems with my PCM2702

I have just soldered the digital connections to my PCM2702 but when I hook it up to my computers, all I get is "unknown device". What could be wrong? Am I correct when I assume you can just test the DAC with no analogue power supply?

No. Even if you are not using the analogue stage, you still must supply it for the device to function.

hmm.. still doesn't work. there doesn't seem to be many problems with this chip. almost every forum thread is just beautiful pictures from guys who made it work right away. i can not figure out what i've done wrong. apart from a bit fewer caps on the analog power supply side i have done exactly as the specs sheet suggest.

I connected it to my linux (ubuntu 7.04) and now it works great
