cs4397 is a bit different than cs4398. If some one have experience with cs4398 will be better to know. I developed dac with cs8416+cs4398 and opa2604 it sounds good, more than expected but I do not have possibility to compare results.
SACD format is not compatible with redbook cd player mechanisms like the cdm4 or cdm9, and the DSD chipset is not available for purchase by the public from either Sony or Philips last time I looked into this.
You can definitely bodge together a conventional cd or even hdcd player (PMD100 digital filter IC needed) if you are motivated enough to do it.
