I have a Zapdac3, print board says 1996 vintage. When connecting a digital source the DAC distorts the sound pretty badly. You can easily hear what is being played, but with audible distortion.
I have tried with 4-5 sources and it happens with all of them. The only source it works with is a Squeesebox V3. This player has a volume control, and if I keep the volume below about 50 (of a 100) then it plays very nicely. I think the digitally controlled volume of Squuesebox regulates the output voltage, which means that the Zapdac somehow only accepts low output sources. Does anyone know what the solution could be? I have tried the different jumper settings on the inside but they don't help. I have done some DIY so if you could give me some pointers on what to check (measuring points and so in) I can probably fix it myself if I know what to look for..... |
