Hello
Not an easy question... Some say it's the PCM63 and TDA1541, other say it's the PCM1794 or AD1955 . Gaetan |

Others say PCM1702 or PCM1704.
Even is hard to implement I personally prefer TDA1541A. regards, Tibi |

I think this is a marketing induced preconception. I think it is more important to understand the design of each piece of hardware and to implement it as best as possible.
to get in the trend though, you may want to look at this page. There are some other vesions on the same site, including tda1541, 1543 and even pcm63. |

Most DACs can be made to sound good. The implementation is often more important than the chip itself.
Oh, and the AK4396 is the best.

Hi,
I can say that I know nothing about DAC design but I agree with Cauhtemoc that the implementation is often more important than the chip itself. I own two different CD players build around the same DAC but they sound completly different. The one which sound the best IMO does not use Blackgate, Oscon capacitors, etc... and other very expensive components ! For me implementation and choice of components are more important than the chip itself. Vincent For dddac: the nicest girls come from Italy for sure!
