My beloved Marantz CD50SE, owned from new and now residing in my holiday house has started skipping. I love the sound of this player, and I was considering adding a superclock to get a little more detail/separation, so I am sad that it seems to be on its last legs.
Can I fix this? Replace a part, or parts? Should I buy another off ebay? I assume a second hand unit of the same vintage, will suffer the same symptons eventually, so a fix would be better. Advice please. Thanks in advance. Michael |

Hi. This could well be the problem. Have you cleaned the laser ? Use a laser cleaning cd - wet with isopropanol/ water or spec. cleaner. If the only problem is skipping, buy a 'new' laser assembly. If you buy another cd-player from EBAY, it may not be much better. Andy |
