I have a Krell CD-DSP whith a software upgrade IC marked 1991 which I'm sure is not the newest. I have heard they had upgrade IC's until 96 but I don't know how I would obtain one of these. Krell tech support was no help on this-they said they didn't support anything this old. Would anyone know how I could obtain one of these or if I could find someone with the correct IC if it could be copied with a eprom programmer. Also any other mods or improvements for this deck would be appreciated.

The krell CD-DSP has exactly the same pickup (phillips cdm1mkII) as the md20 but has metal support frame vs a polethelene for the md20. I'm sure since the md20 is a transport only it would be technically better as a transport in some manner but I'm not sure you could tell a difference. My cd-dsp is the best sounding cd player I've ever heard so I would highly recomend it. It sounds so good you might not hear much improvement from your da converter. I actually had a bid in for the player you are talking about but I'm not going to bid again because I would only be using it as a backup in case something happened to mine and it will probably go for alot $1,000+. Good luck on the auction and if you win let me know if there is any difference between the player and da/converter.
