Are the digital files for Itunes really compressed again ?

They mean the itunes files are compressed lossily leading to more quality loss. The dynamic range par se is not altered like intensional peak limiting/compression.

I believe many many people that also tribulate to let a good DAC sound good has learned that many many ( also nice pieces of art ) cd are mastered with feet .

I've read the article.
I can only applaud any effort made to bring back dynamic range, especially when voiced by those manipulating the buttons.

Too bad the real culprits are not the mastering engineers, but the marketing monkeys looking over their shoulders.
