Hello guys,
I am using a Sony x303-es player as a transport and a seperate DAC. My Sony player only has a optical digital output and no SPDIF coax. In some threads I read that a SPDIF coax signal has less jitter and is therefore better. Can I convert the optical signal to a sp/dif signal in this way (see my drawing)? Thanks, Chris |

Your arrangement might work, but the voltage levels will be much higher than standard S/PDIF.
Check out this page: http://www.epanorama.net/documents/audio/spdif.html When I added S/PDIF coax out to my LD player I used the "Simple S/PDIF output without galvanic isolation", but you could try the "Simplest TTL to S/PDIF coax interface" which is basically the same but without the buffer chip. I've heard that the transformers on old 10BaseT ethernet cards can work for S/PDIF but I haven't tried them. |

Hey 123chris did you try that out.
I want to do the same thing to my CD Player but I haven´t found a solution. Is there a KIT out there or a ready PCB? |

Hi promitheus,
Not yet. First im waiting for a tent clock to arrive. I will build that first. But after that I will try one of the options from the given link. |

Are you going to make a pcb or just put it on a universal pcb?

I think I'll put it on a universal print (experimental). I didn't find any complete kits for it.

You can purchase a small adapter for your purpose.
Here in canada, The Source sells them. http://www.thesourcecc.com/estore/Pr...roduct=4208561 Based on this, it might not be much of an improvement since it is an external conversion. Conversely, you can likely assemble your own converter. Can't be that difficult for the capable as the box only sells for $40CDN. My preference is Optical, since it is a non-conductive connection. |

I found the digital input to the Toslink output.
Is this TTL? if so I could convert this to S/PDIFF coax with a small circuit. Is it easy to find the I²S data lines and how can I interace them to the outside world? I mean what kind of connector and what kind of cable should I use for this? |
