Default help to fix cd player

i'm new to the forum and i'm looking for some help.
i just bought a cheap cd player for the garage (Nexxtech 5). of cource when i tried it out it does not work.
the player powers up and the tray just spins. i opened it up, everything physically looks ok. i took the curcuit board out that drives the spinning tray. it consists of a motor, a magnetic swicth, a photo eye, and 2 diodes. i believe my problem is in here. my question is how do i test the magnetic switch and how do i test the photo eye?

also, do you think i'm on the right path to fixing this?

any help would greatly be appriciated.

thanks in advance,

kuby

kuby,
Welcome.

The player is unknown to me but first thing to do is clean the lens with a little cotton stick. Don't use alcohol.
Could you post a picture of that magnetic switch, diodes and photo eye along with a overall view of the innards?

/Hugo

Sorry for bad english.
First. You must chek power unit, fuzes, power cables.
When you insert a disk, lens must going up and down. You can see a laser light in a dark, but be carefully with you eyes, do not see straight on lens. If this all ok. You need to chek motor, resistance must be 11 ohm and higher. Whery often damaged a cable, that connecting a mechanics and electronics.
Otherwise, problem in electronic module.
There are very many informations in the internet about repairing cd players, use searching systems.
