DCX2496 input A losing signal constantly

My DCX2496, with about 100 hours on it total, started acting funny a few weeks back. I would be listening to music and all of a sudden the left channel would "click" a bit, then lose signal completely. Turning it off and on would fix the problem.

I was doing some measurments last night, feeding the DCX2496 pink noise, and after a few seconds the sound would slowly get quiet, like 1db per 3 seconds. After 10 seconds or so it would lose input signal completely. Again, turning it off and back on would fix it.

Has anyone else had a problem like this? I'd like to return it and get a replacement from PE, but it's been about 10 months and I don't see them getting any in anytime soon:

I had one of my DCX's that was doing some funny stuff.

I sent it back to get serviced, and I think all they did was
push in one of the ribbon connectors.

I still use it and it has been fine ever since.

It's probably not it - but why don't you crack the case and
just check all the ribbon connectors.

Good idea. I'll give that a shot.

What's wierd is after I turn it off then back on it works fine...for a while. If it was a loose connection you'd think it would either work or not work.

It's a well known issue in the touring PA industry, and not just with the DCXs. A lot of these cheaper units with ribbon cables have the same issues. If that fails, then check for a dry joint on the connector.

My DCX crackled a few times the first month I got it, but since it has
been working flawlessly. I opened it up and reseated the cables
and used this tool to fix it -->
