Changing output capacitors on a D2 dac

Hi there, I am not a tech expert so I am asking here if there is any advantage changing out the 2 output capacitors Wima 1.5uf 160v with Jantzen superior 2.2uf 800v capacitors. The caps are on the output and that is all I know. Will it improve the sound somewhat? Any help is greatly appreciated Russell

I wouldn't think so unless you redesign the output chokes and increase the rail voltage to at least 400volts.

Hi Jonsnell, I made a mistake with the existing voltage of the wima 1.5uf caps . The voltage on them is 400 sorry about that. The Jantzens are 2.2uf superior and 800v. Does that change things at all

Jonsnell was kinda kidding I think , do the swap and you'll know , technically there 's no issues , welcome in the caps sound signature world

If you Wimas are polyester type (MKS) you do well changing them with polypropylens (PP) like the Jantzens you stated. If your Wimas are PP (MKP) then it's system dependent what difference you will hear. Anyway Superiors are a good value caps, if you don't to spend an arm and a leg for those kind of things, go ahead

If the original parts are the Wima mkp 10, those are not too shabby.
I would do a lot of researching before shelling out for hi-end parts...

Savvas, the wima's are MKC 4 type 2.2uf and 400 written on them volts I think. Thanks all for your replies
