Those purple or pink output polycarbonate caps impart a lot of colouring to the sound.
I don't like the OP42 as IV-converter. Really hate the the temperamental AD811. CFB opamps sound weird to my ears in the long run but impress on first sight. YMMV. |

Polycarbonate is after PIO one of the best plastic caps. But indeed in my 304 i have MKP motor starter caps, quite good.
What is your suggestion as IV/buffer SeraTico? I have a simple tube stage in mind, with a switching PS from an old pc or so. Guido: a friend has an 880 with paper SM. Will copy all. But it is allmost the same around dac as my CD640. Pro of 880: selected dac, epoxy pcb. cons of 880: NO pcb gnd shield!!! |

I moded once CD880
not much, NOS mode (override 7220...) recloced I2S, discreet IV that was all it was really good. I can imagine with clock generator changed to better one... * But I had some problems about mute at first. There was clicking between songs. So I somehow trace the signal (wo manual...) from some controler chip and it was worked out.

I keep the 880 dig OS-sed. The 1541 is not the perfect candidate for Non os

In this modded player, the transformer directly sits on top of the digital section, maybe not so good.
I never liked the 880... |

Yes i know you did'nt like 880. Maybe the missing gnd screen is a clue?
I dislike the placement of toroid also in that added IV amp. The 304mk2 is still performing here. No s1, no b digital filter. Btw do you still have the Sony TA N7B? I try to repair one.
