A little Googling suggests that they can be regarded as interchangeable, except perhaps where significant RF current is present. In that case silver mica might be better. So for a low power crystal oscillator there is no reason at all to change from one to the other.

I give up! I was just looking for a simple way to improve sound but look like I was just chasing a wild goose LOL
