The noise is visible tip to ring and tip to sleeve, but not ring to sleeve...
that spike at 70khz is only there when generating a signal. there's absolutely nothing on the fft normally. I linked the wrong fft earlier, should have just been the noise spectrum, which is flat.
Have you tried hooking it up with usb with the power and gnd lifted?
I am not sure i follow lifting power and ground.

I meant just connecting the differential signal wires from the usb device
