Default TDA1541a Beaglebone Dual Mono / Simultaneous Mode

Hello,

Does Simultaneous Mode use the same i2s signal except L+R are 2 separate lines ? I have a Beaglebone project and I was wondering if I can just route to ALSA these 2 separate lines via UART and out to the DAC using serial lines.

Thanks.

Hi,

Simultaneous mode is not compatible with I2S. You can find the Philips I2S format specs on the net for sure.

My developer found a way. Write an ALSA output code (small FIFO, 16bit to 14bit) and route to UART for 2 separate channels then hang to the 1540 DACs. This is actually geared more for the 1540. Now, I have to decide which simple opamp to play with.
