Divide-by-2 (aka "/2") working and not

It's been a while since I built a /2 (for separate clock feeding TDA1541) ... and after some frustration, I re-learned some lessons from long ago.

Bottom line ... why does the TentLabs divide-by-2 circuit NOT work, but the Tom Napier version does?

Nevermind -- I had an old copy of Guido's /2 schema that had 5 and 6 reversed. The current PDF is corrected.
Now, as to which of the two is "better"...???

You frequently criticize DIYers for hanging on to old-fashioned ideas and technology, yet here you are looking at 30 year old parts.

Neither is very good if you are concerned with added jitter. There are better ways to divide a clock.
