Recently, I completed DIYing of the DSD DAC over past few month and now enjoy its performance. Even though it is a gear designed by myself, I'm proud of its completeness and performance.

It has the following features.

-. Very cute-sized DAC (It is perfect for enjoying it on the desk.)

-. WM8741 main dac chip.

-. Amanero Combo384 as a USB input (Only one USB input is available though, this is one of convenient and easy ways for enjoying PC-FI.)

-. Playback PCM up to 24bit/192kHz as well as DSD64 (It depends on the max spec of WM8741; I personally hope Wolfson develops a DAC chip with a higher spec, DSD128, than WM8741.)

-. Automatic detecting PCM and DSD and playback accordingly

- To compensate for the DSD output level of 0.948Vrms, half of the PCM output level (2Vrms), the LPF has a circuitry for equalizing to the same level as PCM when a DSD source is input.

-. No wiring for interconnecting the main DAC boad, regulated power supply and LPF boad.

-. Use of high-quality and proper components

-. 2 oz copper PCB

-. Equipped with a headphone amp based on TI's (originally National Semiconductor) LME49600 and AD8599 (dual version of AD797)

-. Simple user interface; one 3 position rotary switch to select any of power-off, line out mode and headphone out, one potentiometer for built-in headphone amp, and two LEDs, one blue LED for power-on status and the other dual color LED (yellow for PCM and green for DSD)

Thanks for your interest in my DAC.

There is no complete schematic for this DAC. Utilizing the EAGLE, I designed it on the PC without a schematic. The only one to which I refer is the schematic for LPF from DAC5 designed by Weiliang. When I bought the DAC in ebay, I got it from the buyer.

Regarding the case, that is a custom-made one. It was manufactured in a small one-man factory.

Hi Pinnocchio,

I didn't built this DAC for the purpose of selling or distribution.
All extra bare PCBs were already distributed to others who wanted to build.
I'd like to help you make this DAC, but for the present time....

These days, DSD supported DACs are dominated by DACs based on ES9018. I prefer an addictive sound of WM8741, however. I wanted to have a DSD DAC based on WM8741, but there are only few product for sale and those didn't attract me. In the event, I did make my own DSD DAC based on WM8741.
