Default AKM's new digital audio ICs

Premium SRCs | Product | AKM - Asahi Kasei Microdevices

AKM launched a web page for their new audio D/A,A/D, and SRC devices and started sample release.
Though their mass production will be started Q2 2015, their spec sheets look attractive.
New top grade DAC AK4490EQ are inproved 7dB of THD+N from AK4399.
New ASRC IC AK4137 have interesting feature,- PCM / DSD conversion function.
It also supports DoP input.(see register setting)
Although I personally do not prefer DSD, it is interesting IC.

It's ironical that PS-Audio are charging $6000 for similar technology !!

Yes, it would be very nice if one starts a very nice ADC & DAC HW specially tuned for measurement. To support 384 / 768 kHz feeding to the PC would be an other challenge

We are using AK4495SEQ(sound quality package) in our USB DAC. It is the best sounding AKM DAC chip.

Default Aune S16 AK4495SEQ DAC

Aune is the "product division" of China's largest DIY website HIFIDIY ?????. I was their die-hard fans 6-7 years ago because they debut high price-value diy kits in China.

DIY kits come and go because there are always better-than-before kits coming out all the time. I can't remember how many kits I bought from them but there are; at least, two of them that I am still using today: -

CD Pro2 Transport
TDA1541 DAC

However, in recent years, they turn out to be more a manufacturer putting Aune as their products in the market. In my memory, there is only one diy kit in these two years that is attracting diyer's attention in the market - A ES9018 DAC jointly developed with ESS China. I seldom purchase their Aune product because they are not diy kits.

The above is true up to today that I can't help to purchase their S16 DAC because the spec is too attractive. I am posting a few of their pictures here as reference. S16 is developed based on AKM's AK4495SEQ. There is another driving force for this purchase because during my recent removal, I found my AKG 701 headphone sitting in a drawer that I don't have any headphone amp for it. S16 is having a headphone output that can bring my AKG 701 into live again. I am expecting to receive it within the next few days that as a diyer, I am always looking for rooms to improve.

I am using Weiliang's dual AK4399 digital section and Universal Tube Output from diyhifisupply as analog output today that; I believe, is the best DAC I ever have. I am longing to see if someone can work out a "public pcb" for AK4495SEQ (perhaps dual) so we can have a taste of newer technology from AKM.

Page P,

Does your DAC have other input options?
Are you using Opamp or discrete (BJT or FET) as analog output?
