Default AK4396 output impedance

I'm not sure how to think about voltage output DACs Zout. What kind of impedance should be presented to the dac's output? The next stage should have a high Z or a low Z?

AK4396 specifies a rather high Zout requirement, of at least 1K. But it's not clear if that's for the output circuit in Fig17 or the actual AOUTL and AOUTR.

What baffles me even more is than the AK4396 can drive directly though 3uF caps some 50ohm Sennheiser headphones. Quite loud and crystal clear, except for the lack of bass. With no external amplifiers, directly from the output pins. So it seems the dac's output is actually quite low Z.

I am asking this because I am trying to optimize a simple current buffer for it and I know these usually have a high impedance input. Eventually I'll just build the damn thing and see what happens, but it would be good to have a bit of insight before this.

Thank you!

There is a measurement of AK4393 by Pano here. I think that 4396 should be close to this value if not same.

Thank you for pointing it out. Considering how well it drives my headphones, seems about right.
