Default New to stand alone DAC

Iam considering purchasing a ODAC dac but I dont know how to actually use one..
Do I need special software to play music through it or is it plug & play? (I'm using PC)

Forgive me for the newb question... I searched both google and this forum with out luck..

The ODAC is plug and play. It connects to your USB port and it should work immediately. This is why there is no discussion on the issue.

But I believe things have moved on, and for less money you will get better results with the

HiFimeDIY Sabre U2 Asynchronous USB DAC.

It appears to be out of stock at the moment, but it should be in stock soon. It is also plug and play.

I have last years version of this DAC without the Asynchronous feature. Last years version without the Asynchronous feature was rated essentially equal to the ODAC by people that have both. The new DAC should be better.
Just the facts! State your evidence.
