Low-Pass filter on ESS9018 in v-out mode - help needed

Hi all,

I recently bought a TPA buffaloIII and would like to try the v-out mode without external I/V stage.

After some internet search I figured it would be wise to implement a low pass R/C filter on the output.

I found a TI application note for their Delta-Sigma DAC range and they show a "classic" R/C low pass with a 10uF in the signal path ahead of it.

Now the question, what exactly is the purpose of that (rather big) 10uF cap ahead of the filter ?

Any help is highly appreciated!

DC blocking.
(I use V-out to Hypex Amps which already have DC blocking in the input, so I don't use any DC blocking capacitor)

actually I think I found the link on your very comprehensive website....

I remember having seen lower values around 2,2uF, what type of cap (through-hole) and value would you recommend ?
