I2S - sources and sinks

I am experimenting with I2S.

I am looking for a list with details for sources and sinks with I2S. Especially in computer audio.

From where can I get ins and outs for I2S. Are graphic cards with HDMI capable for I2S ? Which sound cards can do I2S ? What kind of slight modifications are necessary ? I2S is very close to S/PDIF.

Is there a listing for I2S capable devices available ?

Hi,

I2S it is not very close to S/PDIF, in fact are complete different.
S/PDIF has all information in only one wire comparing to I2S were there are at least 3 wires with 3 different signals.

Many sound board have I2S, you need only to know were to connect.

@ deanoUK: Where to take/capture the signals for I2S on a ASUS Xonar Essence ST ?

Is there a header ? Or a connector ? Is it possible without soldering ?

Juli@ soundcard can be tapped fairly easily for i2s.

I think you can tap the signals off pin headers. If you search the web you will find....
