Default Hifimediy ES9023+TE7022 24/96 USB Dac -> I2S

Hello,

I have the above mentioned DAC connected to my raspberry pi and on the output (at the moment the analog one) to a minidsp. Now I thought of directly using an i2s signal out of the TE7022 chip for use with the minidsp. Is that possible?

Thanks in advance!

Well I looked up the datasheet.

As the ES9023 is connected to the TE7022 I suppose the I2S outputs are enabled. There are now 4 pins:

DLRCLK0, 1
AMCLK0, 11
ASCLK0, 12
SDA0, 27

are those the right pins?

Did you get anywhere with this? I have the same configuration exactly and thinking of doing exactly what you describe (yet to buy the minidsp though).

One drawback of direct I2S connection between Tenor and miniDSP: miniDSP is running at a fixed samplerate (e.g. 48kHz for the 2x4) and you have to make sure your I2S signals are running at this samplerate. Unfortunately output samplerate of Tenor depends on the file (music, mp3, whatever,...) actually beeing played.

Also take care of I2S master and slave!

That shouldn't really be a problem, I can easily select 48Khz as fixed sample rate in MPD if miniDSP cannot handle 44.1Khz.

At the moment the quality of the analog connection is just too good to justify any hassle with the connection I might look into it later
