Sharing a PCM1794 between a DIR9001 and PCM2707 (i.e. DAC with both SP/DIF and USB)

Would that be possible and what would I need to take into consideration? Simply use resistors from I2S outputs on DIR9001 and PCM2707?

You have to use a 2:1 digital multiplexer.

For this either use an IC like 74LVC157 (or similar) or 50Ohm impedance high frequency relay (Panasonic has many HF relays).

The first one is cheaper and you can buy it from twisted pair in a kit: OTTO-II 2:1 Switching Module - you probably don't need the u-fl connectors

Is it possible to make it switch automatically or even mix signals from both sources?

Mix no way. Life is hard, you have to select manually.
