Default Behringer DEQ2496 - Digital Out

I am having an issue using the digital-out of the DEQ2496 into an external DAC.
I am losing about half a second at the start of each song. It is annoying the hell out of me.
I have tried both optical, and AES/EBU (xlr), and the issue is the same.
Not sure how to fix the problem.

Anyone have ideas

I remember seeing that problem a few years back with a DAC that I can't remember the name of. The DAC would mute at the loss of the digital signal. It didn't unmute fast enough when the signal came back.

My DEQ has no problem with this at all on the analog outs. Can't say for certain on the digital out. Do you have a way to check if the DEQ is dropping the steam between songs?

I don't have a problem with the analog out, just the digital out is causing the problem

Yes, I understand. You need some way of checking the digital output to see if it's dropping between songs.

Does it do this will all digital sources?

It looks like it is only happening on flac files recorded to a DVD disc not regular cd recordings.
The issue does not occur with analog-out on the behringer though

I will check a few more cds

Strange. Can you hear mute relays in the DAC? I did when I had the problem.

An SRC (Digital data reclocker and upsampler)placed after the DEQ should solve your problem. It will probably sound better too.

There is no continuous lag it is just at the start of each track.
I have connected one channel with analog out from the behringer the other channel digital out into an external dac, and it is about half a second lost at the start of a FLAC file. It's not an issue if the file does not start at 0 seconds but if it does I lose about half a second

I am still checking more cds

You can also hear a slight pop when the signal comes in, like a relay making contact

Not sure if the issue is with the behringer digital out or the DAC (emotiva xda-1)
