i'm not trying to fit it all in that case =) and till Ian comes up with a multichannel fifo that wont be in there either, nor will the amanero since its 2 channel only. Titan is my only option for multichannel PCM input, luckily its a good option.
so just another dac/dac psu/NTD1 IV, plus the 9016, but that will either use a good quality opamp IV or some transformers so as not to add too much extra electronics. but also some control systems, since you cant connect more than 2 individual dacs without adding some sort of control system, because the dac only has 2 addresses, 0 and 1 for volume control and all other settings. then there is the 6 poweramps =) initially it will 'just' be the 4 channels of dac and 4 (mono Balanced) channels of poweramp. so using a more suitable case with enough heatsink on the side wall so its not taking up room in the case. I have an aleph JX (with semisouth R100), A power jfet circlotron, parts including the unobtainium jfets for an F6, 4 channels of 'the wire' lateral fet poweramps including 2 with the DPS600 fully regulated high current switchmode supplies, a pair of 'the wire' LPUHP and a pair of DX400 Class D on the way. the idea of turning the alephjx into a set of babelfish J's wont go away either... all of this is done, some fully tested and ready, but at a minimum all parts collected and all soldering and preliminary testing done. just waiting for cases and finished speakers (drivers bought and cabinets organized). the only purchasing I havent done yet is for the subs, I kinda want to see how I go with the 2 ways before I see whats needed. I was planning to grab some Accoustic Elegance Lambda td12h or dipole12, but have been recommended several times to check out the Aussie made pro drivers by Lorantz, so things are a bit up in the air there, the Lorantz appeal not just because of the reputation they are gaining, but because it avoids international shipping costs for a pretty massive box... actually I tell a lie, preliminary testing for the poweramps isnt done, just most soldering and all parts collection; I wasnt thinking; only some basic testing is done. the dac stuff is though, the poweramp testing and casework go hand in hand due to heatsinks

yeah AR2 its you that is tipping me that way already =) I wont be finishing the AJX and therefor trying the babelfish J2 until I get some more heatsinks. i'm building a 4/6 channel or rather more likely 2 x 3 channel 'mono blocks' to house 'the wire' lateral fet AB amp and LPUHP first because i'm further down that track, but the Pass stuff will be trialed driving the mids and will need more heatsinks....I would also prefer to replace the Antek transformers I have.
so that stuff along with the F6 will be the second round trials, but I want to have a set of fully functional amps already before I start down that road. I worry about getting more semisouth though. i've got 4 x matched R100 and 4 x matched R125, but thats not enough... i'm a little afraid of what I will have to pay for more now. |
