Hi, I did not know where else to ask this
![]() I am trying to help my son with his electronics GCSE and this is the first time I am playing with digital circuits. My problem is this: I want a device that will "flip" when I give it a pulse. It's output should be 0 to start with, then goes to 1 when I feed it a clock (on the rising edge) and stays 1 until it gets another clock at which point it goes back to 0 and stays 0 and so on. I have looked at "D type flip flop" but I cannot see how it will toggle when I simply feed it a pulse. Thanks |

To make D-flip-flop alternate states on clock pulses you need to tie the Q' output back to the D input.
You can do the same funtion with a J-K latch by tying its J and K input together - using those as the input.

I used a 4027BD on the simulation and it works fine, but now I will try also the D-type flip flop as suggested
Edit : Yes a 4013 with Q' connected to D works as well ! Mnay thanks Last edited by akis; 8th April 2012 at 08:14 PM. |
