Hi
Is it possible to slave the cs8412 to a clock in a transport so that the BCK that goes to the TDA1543 da chip is not derived from the spdif input of the CS8412, but rather is derived from the clean clock from the transport? Thanks Ryan |

Agree, why bother? If you decide to go with two wires, you might as well go three and send the full i2s.
Now, on the crappy 1543 it won't matter anyway (especially in NOS mode), it's not the jitter that limits the performance. You are looking at THD+N of -75dB (catalog figures) - that is before you add more with the NOS. That is, expressed in bits of actual resolution, less than 13 bit (that would provide 78dB)... |

Thanks guys. Excuse the ignorance, but would the spdif output chip in the transport have I2S outputs and can these be fed straight into the tda1543? Or does it have to be buffered?
The transport is a "shigaclone" Any links to a comparison of sound of spdif vs I2S or something more technical? |
