Agree with you on the Bursons - see Samuel Groner's test results. They measure worse in almost all respects than ICs.

It all rather depends what you perceive the shortcomings of your current dac to be. Incidentally this discrete opamp is the reference standard for the others to beat:

Haha, we are reading/quoting from the same paper
Even if is sligtly biased towards their own products.
