Audio interface receiver chip for DTS/Dolby(AC-3) to miniDSP

Hi everyone,
I need a way to just decode DTS/Dolby signal to i2S out.I have had a cheap minidsp in my preamp right now. Can any body help me for this??

Can WM8805 or CS8415A do this job ??? Any suggestion. I just want a cheap solution .

Not going to happen. There are attempts at writing code from the spec that was leaked online but none of that work has been released to the public.

Believe me when I say this has been something that many of us have wanted a tried to work towards but it has just never happened. People have gone as far as buying commercial products and reusing the chips in those because they are already programed with firmware that can decode dts/dd to i2s.

The MiniDSP ought to be able to decode those bitstreams itself. If ac3filter (which is open source) can decode dts and ac3 in software, maybe there's a way to translate that to work in the MiniDSP.

There's some cheapish decoder boxes on eBay and Dealextreme. dts audio decoder - Free Shipping - DealExtreme Patient trolling of random computer stores, computer swap meets (where stores clear out white elephants) may turn up a computer-oriented surround processor. Also car stereo stores; there were or are a number of car audio surround decoders, and they've been known to show up on the bargain table for a tiny fraction of the original price. There's also boxes like the Technics SH-AC500D which were sold to upgrade "digital ready" receivers, which can be picked up for under $100. (That Technics may be the only affordable one that did DTS; the next step up was the crazy expensive high-end pre/processors with inch-thick engraved front panels and remote controls with keys made from endangered species.)

But, really, lossy surround is obsolete. Look (or wait) for an affordable HDMI pre/processor, or find a receiver with preamp outputs. There's boxes on eBay that can decode the LPCM audio from HDMI, but at half the price of an HDMI receiver, it provides about 5% of the functionality. Search for "HDMI Audio To Optical 5.1 7.1 Surround Stereo Converter". I think there was a discussion of extracting S/PDIF from one of those boxes somewhere on Diyaudio or AVSforum.
