Default Battery Supply Question...

Got the boards Ian. Thank you. They look very good.

I'm especially grateful this Christmas that you did "the heavy lifting" and had the resistors on the isolator board pre-soldered....

After reading through the thread and the documentation on the FIFO and Dual XO, I saw where you give a recommendation for battery power for the FIFO. I was wondering...should I choose to not remove the two LDO's on the XO board (implementing the isolator) what would be your recommendation for reasonable LiFePo4 battery power to the XO board?

if I missed that recommendation earlier I apologize.

Hey Ian. I'm working to install the Isolator board. I tested it with double clock board powered by FIFO, and it's working fine. I'm working to power it directly now. According to docs, I removed L11. 44.1 & 88.2 leds light up now, but now I'm not getting lock or sync. I'm digging through the thread, but what am I missing?

Nevermind. Started checking v's - the Isolator failed. Must be a cold solder joint. Bypass it, and I'm powering the Dual clock board via J5.

MisterRogers, everything is good now? Please let us know your solutions again, others may meet same problem.

Have a nice holiday.

Ian

Hey Ian - thanks for the followup. I removed the Isolator and all was well, so it's clear I have an issue there. It worked fine, so I suspect a cold join. That's on my chore list for this afternoon - I love having a break, with plenty of time to play :-)

Also, I build a couple TPS7A4700's at 3.5v this morning for use as AVCC regs in my BIII. Interesting :-) Not sure what I expected; I'm running Paul Hynes there so it's already pretty damn good. Just a short listen - seems to have a touch more bottom end clarity and more high end sparkle. Thoughts on what to expect?

I'd get on the "Band Wagon" as soon as that multichannel unit becomes reality :P

SMPS Tests Soon ??

I really dont think that many of us are interested in SMPS for one of the more vital analogue sections, i'm certainly not and I dont mind them elsewhere. the fifo doesnt use much current really, so linear or shunt low noise regulators are pretty easy to implement, I see no need to push for SMPS

@ MisterRogers:

the Paul Hynes regs are superior, maybe even by an order of magnitude, but certainly significantly
