Hi all!
I need to interface DIR9001 with TDA1545, 'cause I read here: Output level of TDA1545 'the TDA1545 needs EIAJ dataformat, not I2S. This is normally easily obtained from any modern receiver by setting the dataformat appropriately.' and here: Output level of TDA1545 '...the DIR9001 is compatible with the TDA1545 in right-justified 16bit mode: FMT1,0 both set to zero.' But I also read here: Please help DIR9001 and AD1866 '...in any other case (I2S -> EIAJ), shifter is needed.' And shifter is: Creating a DIY non oversampling DAC with PCM1704 So... what the truth? My goal is to simply obtain USB--->TDA1545, so I would find a cheap USB/DIR9001 board and stop. But..howto? TDA1545 have two types ie. TDA1545 and TDA1545A.Yes the one with A is EIAJ format and the one without is I2S. If I am not wrong a maker of reciever IC should be able to output I2S or EIAJ in order that the ic can bebe used in european as well as japanese market, makes practical sense no? |

DIR9001 does support EIAJ format. If you look up the datasheet, the answer is at page 17. EIAJ is 16 bit MSB first, right justified. The timing diagrams will confirm this. Check with the cs8412/cs8414 datasheet for setting for mode 5 to compare and you will see that it conforms to EIAJ.
For use with TDA1545A, you need to set FMT1 (pin 25) and FMT0 (pins26) both to low. Also set PSCK0 (pin 13) to High and PSCK1 (pin 14) to low. This will output SCKO (pin4) at 256fs. TDA1545A does not need any glue logic. It is on mono dac chips like ad1851/pcm56 which also conform to 16 bit MSB first, right justified, that the latch enable pin need be inverted. |
