Default Desperately looking for a DIR1703

Hello,

has anyone any hint for me how to get one, better two of these not any more produced digital audio receivers?
Why do I want this one: Because I dont want the DIR (for digital in) to be master in the chain of digital chips (filter + DACs). I have already built in a DIR9001, the replacement of DIR1703, but this IC you cant clock externally, which I really want to do in order to use a very low jitter masterclock for my setup.
Or does anybody know other chips? Wolfson WM8804 I cant use because in hardware mode (I cant do software mode) it doesnt support my fs.
'The last possibility I see to break the clock chain with DIR9001 (I want to use my external clock) is not to replace DIR9001, but put a SRC in between DIR and digital filter, which I would sync. with the external clock. But this would mean another IC and calculation of the data, I dont know - would they support 44,1kHz -> 44,1kHz, and would they add dither?

Really hope to get a trace of DIR1703, thank you.

Florian M.

Did you give up on the DIR1703? I used one, probably for the same reason you chose it, and I would like to compare notes with someone else who has experience of it. In particular, mine does not output the v-bit/audio bit on pin 1 as the data sheet says it should.

Hi,

yes, gave it up. Didnt get any, still using the DIR9001. I m waiting for next chip, digital audio receivers you can easily clock externally. Like the Wolfson 8804 but with greater possibilities. Just a question of a couple of years I hope....

I may be wrong as I have not used an external clock with the DIR9001 before, but from the datasheet for DIR9001 at pg 13 and pg 16 it appears that it does support an external clock; if wireup as suggested.

I used the DIR1703 because I wanted a constant serial output using a 384fs clock input and nothing else seemed to do this. It works fine, but does not have the variety of outputs that the Crystal chips do. In particular, as I use CD, I like to monitor the validity bit which, due to my misreading of the data sheet I thought was on pin 1. It isn't, so I am now thinking of ways I can use a CS8416 instead.

I don't think we will see another stand-alone receiver chip, as the current ones probably satisfy any commercial demand and AES/SPDIF is limited to 96k, which is not enough for the marketing people
