NE5532? Chunk it... use someting better there.
Also, the tube I think is just a gimmick in their output stage, not a real benefit. |

Thanks for the tips
What will be a better option than the NE5532? OP275? I have ordered a amperex 6922 gold pin tube to use instead of the 6n11 tube in this DAC , hope it is worth it If not, I will try to improve the output stage later. The signal capacitors in the analog stage are maybe a typical component to upgrade? |

I have now built this dac and listened to it for some hours, and did just put in the amperex 6922 gold pin tube.
Original this dac is good. It was a good upgrade from my sony X7ESD player connected with the coax cable. But after changing the tube to the amperex and changing the ne5532 op-amps to lm4662 it becomes a totaly amazing! This is after no break in, but it is already a totaly new clarity, homogeneity, sound stage, bass drive and naturalness over the sound. I am also waiting for a couple of ampohm PIO capacitors for the outputstage. |

Sveinung, did they supply schematics with the kit? I'm thinking of building one to upgrade an old Sony player (308esd) via the toslink optical, but not sure about the tube output stage and i'd like to be able to bypass it if needed...? also any issues with ordering from China? looks like very nice kits on their site.

Yes, they supplied schematics. You can chose to to bypass the tube output if you want by switching some pins.
hifidiy is easy to deal with. No problems there! Good quality on the prints and parts

Sveinung, many thanks for the tip. The kits do look very nice and of high quality. You are using the tube, what do you think about benefits of this output (instead of direct from op-amps)? Cheers! Tim.

To be honest I have not tried it without the tube, so can really not tell you anything clear about that.
