the new DDDAC1794 NOS 192/24 DAC

In the past year I have been working on my new project: designing a DAC which will play 192kHz / 24bit material from a PC (or Mac...) There are many DACs who can do this, but I wanted to design a NOS version, as so far, every listening test I did, this led to a more open, natural and detailed sound.

I found this to be possible by using the well known PCM1794 and avoiding the digital filtering built into the chip. This proved to be quite tricky, but I managed to find the key to do it. It has been a great adventure with much to learn and a fantastic result at the end....

I give a very detailed report on www.dddac.com

you can download the specifications here: dddac1794_nos_ver30.pdf

and below I share a few Pictures. I will also open a thread for discussion on the NOS PCM1794 topics

In order of appearance:

The Mainboard with I/O and I2S to right handed conversion
The actual dual mono DAC Module (can be stacked parallel)
Built up with 4 modules and two power supplies (5 and 12 Volt)
Wired up in Chassis (Mundorf Gold silver oil Output and optional Sowter 1:2

Dual Mono BIII / Hi-Fi 2000 Modushop

I finally finished my dual mono BIII. Oddly enough this build was financed after I built a turntable (Lenco) and sold a pricey belt drive.

I have a Denon 3910 modded to export I2S/DSD to the DAC. I am also waiting for my GB Amanero USB module.

DAC: BIII's with Legato's.
Enclosure: Hi-Fi 2000 Pesante 3U with optional drilled base and fully vented top cover.
Modushop machining (LCD cavity, LCD mount holes drilled & tapped, encoder knob cavity)/engraving.
Anodize after machine.
Arduino control with HiFiDuino/Corpius code.
Apple remote.
Corpius shield.
electroFUN I2C LCDextra IO to reduce LCD wiring.

I did the color fill of the front panel engraving using Testors enamel. I drilled/tapped holes for the Arduino/IR receiver so they are not as nice as modushops CNC work. The rear LCD cavity was to get the LCD closer to the face of front panel.

I'd like to make a request that everyone posting DAC project photos please include the identity of the vendors of the major commercial sub-systems. For example, metal casework and knob vendor, DAC module vendor, etc. Not a full B.O.M., just the 4 or 5 major hardware elements. In particular, I'd be interested in knowing who are the casework and knob vendors providing you with such professional looking enclosures. Thanks. :)

just another multi tda1543 dac. 12 stacked, lm317 reg and deode's i/v values on carbon comp. russian 4uf pio (or piwax? best sounding russian caps ive come across in that theyre actually listenable without killing the resolution. ) copper shielded wires and te8802 usb chip. 8802 sounds comparable (not as good tho) to waveio but has reliability issues..
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Just an USB-DAC prototype.

I2S from Edel USB interface clocked by DAC (two Crystek CCHD-957);
AD1955;
I-V and LP on OP-AMPs buffered by emitter followers.

An quite unimpressive device:

And a couple of spectra (1063 Hz, -0.15 dB FS; 192/24) for both channels measured with notch filter:
