I want to capture three (commonly clocked) I2S signals, that's 6 channels, onto a PC. If necessary, I can convert all into S/PDIF and capture those instead; it is quite easy to rig up a few S/PDIF transmitters. But I haven't been able to find anything that will capture the multi-channel digitial audio as either I2S or S/PDIF. Any ideas?

I think some Creative cards have I2S inputs. Whether you can capture from them simultaneously, I don't know. But, multiple cards may be an option. I'm pretty sure my Turtle Beach Quadzilla used I2S for the optional S/PDIF input.

You are confusing I2S with SPDIF.

I'm in the same boat, but looking to capture 8 channels of I2S.
The most cost effective method I've come up with is multiple 2 channel cards. CMedia have a soundcard chip that should be able to do it, but there appears to be no commercial implementation. |

There are no differences between the signals transmitted over optical or coaxial S/PDIF connectors—both carry exactly the same information. Selection of one over the other rests mainly on the availability of appropriate connectors on the chosen equipment and the preference and convenience of the user
