The DSP is indeed a TAS3108, which has about 135MMAC/s to play with.
Isn't that chip already obsolated by TI?

the recommended replacement is a stock standard 16 bit fixed point DSP which is nowhere near the original 28 bit precision of the TAS part and doesn't break any speed benchmarks either. Sounds like a step backwards

The C55 DSP family is yesterdays technology.

Looks like hypex has a complete redesign on their hands !!

how can it be if it is not even compatible precision wise ? Totally different fixed point format of 5.23 versus 1.15 fixed point formats. Even a 32 bit fixed point DSP is not a substitute. Then you have the issue of it not being pin compatible as well with the recommended replacement being a BGA package !! I think TI is just saving face by trying to fit a square peg in a round hole

But where is the problem??? Ti will keep manufacturing the TAS and support it, but they only want to promote their newer products for new designs.....

Just marketing!

Fine for me as long as it's transparent sounding with low jitter. Personally I''m more concern about the software and lack of options in it.
