Hypex DSP module(s)

the recommended replacement is a stock standard 16 bit fixed point DSP which is nowhere near the original 28 bit precision of the TAS part and doesn't break any speed benchmarks either. Sounds like a step backwards :(

The C55 DSP family is yesterdays technology.

Looks like hypex has a complete redesign on their hands !!

how can it be if it is not even compatible precision wise ? Totally different fixed point format of 5.23 versus 1.15 fixed point formats. Even a 32 bit fixed point DSP is not a substitute. Then you have the issue of it not being pin compatible as well with the recommended replacement being a BGA package !! I think TI is just saving face by trying to fit a square peg in a round hole :(
